Using comprehensible hierarchies, we develop a software-based lock plan for key management. The result is an overview of all keys, including characteristics such as type of cylinder and key, which documents important properties such as build or manufacturer. Key boxes are managed as well as the issue and return of keys. A key card gives information about key inventory and clearly indicates which keys are available. The incorporation of the room datasheet/locking system module expands key management to include information about which doors or areas can be accessed with specific keys.
